Blood and fractures: Mass detentions of protesters in Moscow

The police detained a lot of people during Sunday’s rally in Moscow. The participants protested against the authorities’ refusal to register opposition candidates for the Moscow City Duma elections.

The policemen grabbed dozens of protesters, politician Ilya Yashin said on Facebook. About 20 persons were placed in a paddy wagon he was being kept in, the man added.

There are might-have-been candidates (Ilya Yashin, Lyubov Sobol, Ivan Zhdanov, Andrey Oryol, Yulia Galyamina) and journalists among the detainees.

“I wonder whether protecting brazen thieves from the people does not make the police officers sick? They fully realize what is going on. Today, there was a good slogan near the election committee: “Do not bring dishonour on your stars,” Yashin said.

According to OVD-info, the police got tough and brutal with the protesters. Some detainees were bleeding, there are suspected concussions and fractures.
