The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) has uncovered another fraudulent scheme of supplying European products to Russia from Belarus using the so-called “false transit”.
According to Rosselkhoznadzor, in the period from May to November, four shipments of pork fat from Germany with a total weight of 83 tons were imported to Belarus. The suppliers said that they would use transit through Russia to transport fat to the Abkhaz consignee, OOO Golden Bridge. However, in reality, only two consignments left Russia, the agency notes. According to Rosselkhoznadzor, the other two consignments were sold in Russia.
This is not the first time when products from the EU come from Belarus to Russia and are sold bypassing the sanctions. Last year, Russian customs uncovered the largest network of supplies to the territory of Russia of goods produced in the European Union. At least 29 companies were involved in the scheme. From the beginning of 2015, they transferred vegetables and fruits to three Belarusian partners for the sum of about USD 125.7 million.
