Belarus authorities to fight illegal street racing

The news came from the Prosecutor General Alyaksandr Kanyuk, speaking with journalists on the results of the last meeting of the Security Council, BelTA informs.

Street races are unofficial races that take place on public roads. As the Prosecutor General stressed, this is becoming a problem in Belarus.

“At minus 20 Celcius it is, of course, not relevant. But poeple living, for example, on Pobediteley Avenue in Minsk, know perfectly well what happens to cars and motorcycles … After all, we get many complaints from people. We have been working on this issue, I think that in the end we will come to a more concrete decision,” the Prosecutor General said.

He also noted:

“How do you stop a street-racer, for example, on a Kawasaki motorcycle at a speed of 250 kilometers per hour? In other countries, special units have already been established to combat such violators. I’m not saying that we will do so. But the problem exists.”
