Authorities allow REP trade union to hold protest on May 1

The Minsk City Executive Committee has satisfied the request of the REP trade union to hold a rally on May 1 in the Kyiv Park, belsat.eu learned from Henadz Fedynich.

The trade unions proposed in their application three possible places for the action — a platform near the Opera House, Yanka Kupala Square and the Kyiv Park. “The authorities eventually chose the Kyiv Park — obviously, this is easier for them, since this site was previously allowed,” says Fedynich.

According to the application, up to 2 thousand people will take part in the action.

As Fedynich said, the slogan during the rally will be predominantly social, but “there will enough of everything” — meaning there is no thematic limitation.
