Anarchist Kasinerau sentenced to 10 days in jail for ‘picket’

Vyachaslau Kasinerau in court

A Minsk court senenced anarchist Vyachaslau Kasinerau to 10 days of arrest for petty hooliganism (Art. 17.1 of the Administrative Code).

Three anarchists showed up at the authorised May Day rally in Kyiv Park in Minsk, and Kasinerau lit a flare. They also unfurled the banner ‘Freedom, Equality, Self-management’. Plainclothes policemen detained the trio. The detention was filmed by a Belsat TV crew. The video shows plainclothes people taking three anarchists to a blue minivan. Interestingly, the anarchists were not even given the floor at the rally.

Later, two of them, including Kasinerau, were released.

On May 2, when Kasinerau came to court to support his friend, he was detained again by riot police and people in civvies. After that he was taken to Tsentralny district police station and explained that he had organised a picket a day earlier. In the afternoon, his case was considered, but the court sent the protocol back for revision. The anarchist spent a night in the detention facility in Akrestsin street.
