Already three patients in Belarus with suspected coronavirus


Ministry of Health has reported that three patients are suspected of having coronavirus infection in health care institutions of Belarus.

On March 1, the Ministry of Health reported that a test of resident of Vitsebsk region had revealed that a fragment of RNA ‘may belong’ to the 2019-nCoV.

“Belarusian woman and her two colleagues arrived from Italy. Due to the fact that they had been in northern Italy for a short time, they were called to the health care institution. Here, everyone who arrived underwent medical tests and had their samples taken. Patients were hospitalized at the Vitsebsk Regional Clinical Infectious Disease Hospital. Their condition is satisfactory, there is no signs of disease. The women’s colleagues have negative tests,” the Health Ministry said.

On February 29, the Health Ministry said that the father of a girl BNTU student from Iran, who was found to have the Chinese Coronavirus could also be infected. The agency called the results of his tests “questionable”.

“At present, three patients are suspected of having coronavirus infection in health care institutions of Belarus. All three are in satisfactory condition, there are no clinical manifestations of the disease,” said the Ministry of Health.

On February 27, the first confirmed case of coronavirus in Belarus became known. It was an Iranian student, who flew from Baku on February 22, who was infected.
