Activist Mikalai Dzyadok fined for ‘illegal’ political activity

On March 6, a Minsk court found activist of the anarchist movement Mikalai Dzyadok guilty of an administrative offense under Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code (“Participation in an unauthorized mass event”) and sentenced him to a fine of 637.5 BYN.

The reason was his participation in the action “Freedom to political prisoners”, which took place on February 26 at the Kastrychnitskaya Square.

Dzyadok admitted that he participated in the action “Freedom to political prisoners” on February 26 in Minsk, but did not plead guilty, as he considers the law “On Mass Events” repressive. He also believes that his actions were not of a violent nature, however, “so much police forces were thrown at him that it was even absurd.”

Mikalai Dzyadok was detained on the morning of March 4, he spent more than two days in the remand prison. He was arrested immediately after leaving the court building of the Frunzenski district, where he was punished with a fine of 50 basic units for the old post in social networks, which the court considered extremist.
