About 2,700 Ukrainian soldiers killed since beginning of Russian aggression – MoD

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has announced the death toll of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the beginning of the war in Donbas in 2014.

“A total of 2,696 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed and 9,903 have been wounded since the beginning of Russian aggression in Ukraine,” ministry speaker for ATO issues Andriy Lysenko told news agency UNIAN on June, 16.

On Friday morning a Ukrainian serviceman was shot dead by an enemy sniper near the village of Novotoshkivske in Luhansk region.

According to the OSCE special monitoring mission (OSCE SMM) in Ukraine, 45 civilians have been killed in Donbas since the beginning of the year. The SMM notes an increase in the number of ceasefire violations in Donetsk and Luhansk region in recent days, damage to civilian facilities, and the use of artillery and multiple launch rocket systems at the demarcation line.
