'Putin is a louse': Nadiya Savchenko gives first press conference (video)

Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko spent almost two years in Russian prison. On May 25, she returned to Ukraine. She was swapped for two officers of the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) of the Russian Defense Ministry. When Savchenko arrived in Kyiv, she stated she is still ready to die for Ukraine on the battlefield.

Answering journalists’ questions at her first press conference, the aviatrix also expressed readiness to become President of Ukraine

War and Peace

“I want peace. We will be seeking peace by any means. I am ready to fight and make peace. This is our Ukrainian land.”

Exchange and Putin

Asked whether her exchange for GRU officers was Putin’s good will, Savchenko answered: “They came to my cell in the middle of the night and ordered to get ready! I did not know where they were going to send me – to Magadan or to Ukraine. I do not know whose will it was.”

When will Russia give Crimea back?

“I spent two years watching Russian television. However, I have not yet seen Ukrainian TV. But one should think for themselves! Russian TV creates propaganda. They select facts arbitrary and then justify the annexation of Crimea. Russia violated international law. What should one do to get Crimea back? I have a feeling that the Third World War is brewing. If it starts, Crimea will return to Ukraine.”

At the end of the conference Savchenko called Putin ‘louse’. Later, the former hostage of the Kremlin and journalists performed the national anthem of Ukraine.
